Your data
Delete your RanchPilot account
You can delete your account and your data at any time, in the app or by email.
Delete it in the app
- Open RanchPilot and go to Settings, then Account, then Delete my account.
- Read what will happen. Before anything is deleted, the app lists it: your name, email address and password are erased. If you are the only owner of a ranch, that ranch is deleted with all of its records, and the app tells you how many other people lose access (it suggests making one of them an owner first). If the ranch has another owner, you just leave it, and your past entries stay in its records.
- Confirm. Enter your password and type DELETE. The app also wipes the copy of your records stored on that phone or computer.
Or ask us by email
You don't need the app. Our support team runs the same deletion for you.
- Email us at hello@greenbowlabs.com with the subject Delete my RanchPilot account. Send it from the email address on your RanchPilot account, so we know it's you.
- Tell us what you want deleted:
- Just my login. Your sign-in and your place on the ranch are removed. This is the choice for crew members: a hand, manager or viewer.
- The whole ranch and all of its records. Only for a ranch's owner. Everything on the ranch is deleted, including records, money entries, maps, notes and photos. (Ask conversations are handled separately, below.)
- We confirm by replying to your email. For a whole-ranch deletion we'll also check that you're the ranch's owner, and that any other owners agree if there are several.
What happens next
- In the app, your name, email address and password are erased right away. By email, we delete what you asked us to from our live systems within 30 days.
- Copies in our database backups are removed within 14 days after that, because backups are kept for up to 14 days.
- If you asked by email, you'll get an email when it's done.
What gets deleted, and what stays
- Photos are deleted when you remove them, when the animal's record is deleted, and when the ranch is deleted. A daily cleanup removes any photo file left behind. Photos you added to an animal belong to the ranch's records like your other entries, so they stay on the animal unless someone removes them. Tell us in your email if you want specific photos removed.
- If you delete just your login: your account and your memberships are removed. The entries you made stay in the ranch's history under your name, because a ranch's records belong to the ranch. If you'd like your name taken off past entries, say so in your email.
- If an owner deletes the whole ranch: every record on the ranch is deleted, for every person on it: animals, photos, money, maps and pasture outlines, fence plans, rain readings, notes, settings, memberships and invitations.
- Ask conversations are kept by a separate help service and aren't removed when you delete a ranch. They're deleted automatically 90 days after the last message, or sooner if you ask us to delete them in your email.
- If a ranch's subscription is cancelled, its records are kept for 90 days, read-only, with export available. After that they are deleted permanently.
- Records we're required by law to keep, if any (for example, billing records once billing begins), are kept only as long as the law requires.
Before you delete
- Export your records. In the app you can download everything, in CSV and JSON. Do this first: deleted records can't be recovered.
- If you're the only owner and want the ranch to continue, hand the ranch to another owner first, from Settings, People, instead of deleting it.
